STAFF PROFILES OF PRIMARY PRINCIPALS


JAMES W. MCCARTHY, CPA, ESQUIRE

VICE PRESIDENT


Jim is a Certified Public Accountant and Attorney, whose experience includes over 50 years in finance, real estate and construction, including public accounting, Chief Financial Officer for a construction/ manufacturing company, Chief Financial Officer for a large non-profit, low-income, real estate development/management organization and 40 years of self-employment as Owner/Consultant/Attorney/Developer/ Management Agent for multifamily sales/rental housing and healthcare facilities with a specialization in HUD financing.

During his career, Jim has been involved in over 400 completed multifamily and healthcare facility transactions.  His experience includes planning, acquisition, structuring, organizing, development, operation and management of facilities financed with conventional financing, HUD direct financing, HUD insured financing, low income housing tax credits, historic tax credits, HUD rental subsidies, community development block grant funds, Federal Home Loan Bank grants, taxable mortgage revenue bonds, and tax exempt mortgage revenue bonds.  

Clients include private, governmental, non-profit and quasi-governmental organizations.

PAUL S. PIEFFER, ESQUIRE

VICE PRESIDENT/SECRETARY


Paul spent over 27 years in the banking industry, beginning as a teller/ management trainee and advancing to the position of President/CEO of Pennwood Bancorp, a community bank which was included in Worth Magazine’s top ten small bank stock picks before being acquired in 2000.

During the last decade since joining SECORE, Paul has been involved in a variety of projects, particularly those involving low income housing tax credits and tax exempt bonds.

CHRISTINE L. MCCARTHY

MAP UNDERWRITER/TREASURER


Christine has acquired broad based experience in both consumer and commercial lending.  Her career has included positions at Citi Financial, National City Bank and Ryan Financial Services.


As a HUD approved MAP underwriter for SECORE, Christine has extensive successful experience involved in HUD underwriting applications for the various HUD mortgage loan insurance programs, as well as significant positive experience with numerous federal, state and local housing assistance programs.
